Our Cooking Class
For generations, women of African descent in the Caribbean, the United States, and all over the world have past down the skill and art of cooking to their daughters and sons. In the kitchen, we share stories about life. Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry.
But…
Not all of us had the opportunity to learn the art of cooking.
Not all of us like to be in the kitchen.
For some of us, the kitchen holds traumatic wounds.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, few of us have had the opportunity to bond over food.
In our virtual kitchen we invite you to the gentle, messy, sometimes teary, and at other times funny experience of telling our own food stories.
You will also have the opportunity to share space with me and my mom as we cook a home cooked meal.
Welcome to Cooking with Mong-ga.
Let’s take a trip to Jamaica.
